Symptoms

Worm infestations can range from sub clinical to critical, severely affecting your horse's health. They rob precious blood, nutrients, and energy from horse host. In their various larvael stages some species burrow into tissues and vital organs such as the heart and liver.

Symptoms in Adult Horses:

  • Dull coat
  • Poor attitude/ irritability
  • Pot belly
  • Persistent winter coat
  • More frequent episodes of colic
  • Depressed performance

Symptoms in Foals:

  • Nasal Discharge
  • Coughing
  • Stunted growth
  • Poor appetite
  • Rough hair coat
  • Lethargy
Dosage

Controls, large and small strongyles, pinworms, and roundworms.

Control Program

Treatment: Single Dose Daily for Five (5) Days

  • 7.5 mg/kg (3.4 mg/lb) bodyweight daily for five (5) consecutive days.
  • One (1) sachet of AbFen™ treats a small horse that weighs up to 300 kg (660 lbs.)
  • For foals, use half (1/2) of a sachet

Treatment: Double Dose Daily for 5 Days

  • 15 mg/kg (6.8 mg/lb) bodyweight daily for five (5) consecutive days.
  • Two (2) sachets of AbFen™ treats a small horse that weighs up to 300 kg (660 lbs.)
  • This treatment is not necessary for foals to take.
  • This treatment eliminates encysted small strongyle larvae

Treatment: Single Dose for One (1) Day

  • 30 mg/kg (13.6 mg/lb) bodyweight
  • Four (4) sachets of AbFen™ treats small horse that weight up to 300 kg (660 lbs.)
  • This treatment is not necessary for foals to take
  • This treatment eliminates encysted small strongyle.

Treatment: Double Dose for 1 Day

  • 60 mg/kg (27.2 mg/lb) bodyweight
  • Eight (8) sachets of AbFen™ treats small horse that weighs up to 300 kg (660 lbs.)
  • This treatment is not necessary for foals to take.
  • This treatment eliminates migrating stages of large strongyles in a single dose

Consult your veterinarian for a control program to meet your specific needs.

Administration

Just sprinkle AbFen™ dry onto feed. For fussy eaters, mix with molasses or corn syrup, and then mix with food, apple, treats, or a mash.

IMPORTANT: Consult your veterinarian for assistance regarding diagnosis, treatment and control of equine parasites and the suitability of AbFen™ for your horse.
  • Do not underdose as this could result in the development of resistance to benzimidazole.
  • Do not eat or smoke while administering the medication. Wash your hands after use, and avoid contacting the medication with eyes.
